The Hong Foundation is pleased to share that its Chairman, Royce Y.C. Hong, has recently been elected to the Board of Trustees of ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, serving as a newly appointed trustee.
Founded in 1930, ArtCenter College of Design is one of the world's most iconic institutions for art and design education. It has a long-standing legacy of nurturing pivotal talent across industrial design, automotive design, visual communication, media technologies, and the fine arts and creative industries. For nearly a century, ArtCenter’s alumni and faculty have continued to exert a profound and lasting influence on global design, art, product development, branding, and innovation sectors.
An alumnus of ArtCenter, Mr. Hong has consistently placed design thinking at the core of his visionary endeavors. His career spans the fields of technology, manufacturing, energy, education, culture, and the arts. He is the Founder and CEO of both IPEVO Inc. and XING Mobility, and also serves as the Chairman of Panasonic Taiwan. Since assuming the role of Chairman of the Hong Foundation in 2021, he has carried forward the Foundation’s mission—established in 1971—to champion the development of culture and the arts in Taiwan while actively fostering international dialogue through Taiwanese creative expression.
ArtCenter President Karen Hofmann stated:
“Royce’s career demonstrates the power of design to shape industries, create new opportunities and drive meaningful change and innovation. As an alumnus who has built successful companies, led global organizations and demonstrated a commitment to the arts, he will bring valuable perspective to the Board. We are delighted to welcome him back to ArtCenter in this new role.”
ArtCenter Board Chairman Michael Warsaw remarked:
“We are honored to have Royce join the Board of Trustees. His business experience, global perspective and insight into business and innovation in Asia will be an asset as we continue advancing the College’s mission and impact here and around the world.”
Mr. Hong expressed:
“ArtCenter laid the foundation for who I became, not only as a designer, but as a design-driven entrepreneur. In a world being reshaped by rapid technological change, design is becoming even more essential as the force that translates visionary ideas into the industries of the future and cultural practices. I’m honored to help ArtCenter deepen its global impact, especially by strengthening its connections with Asia’s innovation and cultural ecosystems.”
The Hong Foundation has long believed that culture, art, design, and industrial innovation are not separate domains, but vital, symbiotic forces that collectively expand society’s imagination. Chairman Royce Y.C. Hong’s appointment to the ArtCenter Board of Trustees marks a significant step forward in the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to deepen international cultural connections and support the advancement of design education and creativity.
Moving forward, the Hong Foundation will continue to take Taiwan as its point of departure, bridging international networks across art, design, and innovation, and fostering more cross-cultural, cross-generational, and cross-disciplinary exchange and collaboration.
