Young Art - Understanding the World Through Art The Co-learning Project features an art education workshop for children in elementary school grades 2-6. The program includes "Discussion Classes", which use stories and creative activities to explore contemporary issues."Exhibition Classes", which take participants directly to exhibition venues for an open-ended artistic experience.
Oh, My Madeleine!
For Marcel Proust, author of In Search of Lost Time, a simple madeleine unlocked a floodgate of memory. When an experience is stored in the mind, how is it recalled, and what shapes do those memories take? Do they remain exactly the same as the original, or are they modified to become more complex, or perhaps flattened into a simple module?
Unlike our first session, which began with discussion, this second session will first take children to the exhibition "The Madeleine Moment: The Technologies of Memory and Emotion." Here, they will open their senses and be inspired by how artists explore and develop this theme. Then, in the discussion class, we will use classic literature by authors like Long Ying-zong and Eileen Chang to share personal insights on memory. We will extend the exhibition's ideas, pushing this delicate and intimate topic into a larger framework to discuss collective identity and new forms of memory in the contemporary world and the future.
