"Role-playing" is an immersive experience where players follow specific rules and settings, making choices and decisions that impact the development of the storyline. Childhood role-playing is a longing for imaginative fantasy and an imitation of certain professions, shaping the way of life of a human being through the game. Role-playing can also be found in gaming, board games, team-building activities, LARP (Live-Action Role-Playing), and other forms of entertainment, allowing individuals to escape their reality and enter a different world. However, this is not solely a compensatory fabrication, but rather a way of practicing one's personal values. "Commoner A" attempts to embody multiple virtual characters as NPCs in role-playing games, exploring the connection between real and virtual identities and the establishment of character personalities and identity recognition in the era of community. This exhibition consists of three sets of images, which describe the concept of character and role-playing from different perspectives, including character generation, scenes, and events. The term "role-playing" is first associated with video games, such as role-playing games (RPGs). The hero sets out from the village and experiences a series of adventures, encountering a group of different partners, including swordsmen, archers, wizards, and thieves... and finally defeats the demon king, welcoming a new beginning for the world. This is the basic three-part story structure of a role-playing game: "beginning", "middle", and "end". The character starts off living their everyday life, but then must go on an adventure and leave behind their normal life. The character may embark on the journey voluntarily or be forced into it, facing various tests, enemies, mentors, and companions, and gaining rewards and growth. After achieving their goal, the character returns to their normal life, ending the story. Role-playing is not only limited to video games but is also a behavior pattern in real life, such as Cosplay, Mascot, live-action role-playing games (LARP), team-building games, etc. By detaching and switching from their original personal identity, individuals enter another worldview, experiencing a temporarily different self. A broader definition of role-playing is the establishment of a personal identity and worldview. Through various means such as personality, interests, habits, appearance, clothing, language, etc., one shapes an image that one hopes to be perceived as.
