Contemporary creation often happens outside the studio, appearing in spaces where various industries intersect. The trajectory of "art exhibitions" and "film productions"—emerging from nothing in non-traditional venues only to eventually conform to institutional structures—is remarkably similar. The cycles of setting up and tearing down underscore a daily nihilism that, within the gallery, is transformed into art. Yet, while film relies on a screen, art can be its own manifestation. Do the spaces used as mere carriers—repeatedly built up and then wiped clean—possess their own subjectivity? Does a site hold meaning without artistic intervention? In Desert presents a state of "vanishing creation" at PROJECT SEEK. When an undefined "___" installation occupies a space in transition, it is redefined as "art" through the site’s own symbols. In the urban mirage of Roosevelt Road, this project explores the dialectics between creator, site, work, and the void. There is nothing here but an oasis of illusion—an illusion that nonetheless offers experience, assigns meaning, and constructs its own reality.
