2023/05/13 - 06/10

The inspiration for this creation came from my personal field visit to the legendary pyramid on Qixing Mountain. Through accumulating perceptions and memories within and outside the body while treading, and guided by various links and triggers, I embarked on an exploration of memory, history, and nature through my art. In the exhibition entitled "Real, True, Actual, Factual, Authentic, Veracious, Verisimilitude, Genuine, Truthful, Reality, Truth, Actuality, Fact, Authenticity, Verity, Veracity ......", I selected the works "Historical Exceptions" and "Undated Diary" from my creative plan. These two works contain symbolic structures that create a state of reality and unreality. By immersing themselves and circling within the artwork, the viewer can approach the difficult-to-define and purely illusory entity that surrounds them, and attempt to capture, to a greater or lesser extent, the truth that memory and cognition give us?

YO-WEN MAO

Yo-Wen Mao is a graduate of the Graduate School of Fine Arts at the National Taiwan University of Arts, currently residing and working in Taipei, Taiwan. His works are mostly about employing creativity to seek to change previously specified logic. In recent years, he has concentrated more on memories and locations that have been misdiagnosed, neglected, forgotten, or purposefully concealed, and he has investigated them via his own perceptions and thoughts through his own involvement, visits, and connections - an freehand brushwork mixture in his works.
