Life. People always conform to the ideal paths defined by society, believing without hesitation that it is the only way. Along the journey, struggles of misalignment may emerge; yet, if one ignores them and continues to follow the track, they eventually reach a position that society deems "ideal." It seems as if nothing is lacking, yet there remains a lingering sense that something is missing—a hollow state of being enslaved by materialism. Is it our lack of contentment? Or a yearning for alternative self-worth? A desire for change? Or is it simply that this era has shaped us into who we are today?

ARTIST

YO-WEN MAO

Yo-Wen Mao is a graduate of the Graduate School of Fine Arts at the National Taiwan University of Arts, currently residing and working in Taipei, Taiwan. His works are mostly about employing creativity to seek to change previously specified logic. In recent years, he has concentrated more on memories and locations that have been misdiagnosed, neglected, forgotten, or purposefully concealed, and he has investigated them via his own perceptions and thoughts through his own involvement, visits, and connections - an freehand brushwork mixture in his works.
